How to save money on your holiday in Devon

Who doesn't like a bargain? Well we thought it would be a good idea to let you in on a few money saving tips before and during your trip to Torbay. Leaving you some money left over to spend on your holiday treats like Devon ice-cream!!

ACCOMMODATION

When you book any hotel, always book directly. Speaking with many of our friends and guests, many people did not know that booking sites charge a commission to the hotel of anything from 8% to 17%. Most hotels, including us at The Montana would pass the saving onto the guest if booked directly. Not only that, most hotels/B&Bs will do a better deal if you stay longer too. We at The Montana have a Cheeky Weeky deal - Monday to Friday, buy 4 nights for the price of 3! (Offer is from October to May).

TRAVEL

Travelling by train? - The earlier you buy, the cheaper the ticket. Train companies release their cheapest fixed-time Advance tickets, which are limited in number, around 12 weeks before departure. See National Rail’s chart (nationalrail.co.uk) for exactly how far in advance you can book with each company.

If you have a FREE bus pass, then use it in Devon! If not, buy a Stagecoach Day Rider from the driver for £4.95 - This means you can travel anywhere in the Torbay area for a fixed fee.

ATTRACTIONS

When you arrive, always pop into the local travel information centre, Torbay Tourism which is situated on Belgrave Road (roughly 2 minutes walk away from The Montana). Pop in and speak to either Linda or Helen, who will be more than happy to give discount vouchers for the local attractions such as the Model Village and Paignton Zoo.

FOOD & DRINK

When in Devon, you have to have a cream tea, right?! Well how about you throw in the freshly cooked scones, sandwiches, salad, crisps and a HUGE pot of tea and have a High Tea for £6.50 per person! Weavers Cottage in Cockington have the most beautiful setting for high tea. A must visit!

Unlimited chips at Rock Fish - That's right, dine in at Rock Fish on Torquay Harbour or Brixham Harbour and order fish and bottomless chips!

Night out? Revolutions in town has a discount card which you purchase for a small fee of £3.00 - with this card you have two for one on their main cocktails! (Offer excludes Saturday evening).

BARGAIN OF THE CENTURY!

Catch a return ticket to Brixham for the price of a coffee. £3.00 per person from Torquay Harbour to Brixham Harbour return. You can't go half way round the big wheel for that price!
