Why not double your 5 a day
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and who would have thought it, The Montana breakfast gives you over 10 of your five a day!
Okay, we provide a full English breakfast, where is the health in that I hear you say? For starters, all of our meat is grilled! Not only that, we try and reduce our carbon footprint by using the car as little as possible, so our bacon and sausages are all from the local butcher on Belgrave Road (Terry Prentice), our eggs are delivered every Thursday from the local farm (Glennside Eggs), bread is from the local bakery (do not even need to cross the road for this one!) and we try to get local milk, butter and fruit where we can.
Now where is this five a day? Well according to the government health website, the following from our breakfast menu count as your fruit and veggies:
- Baked Beans (believe it or not, these count as one of your five!)
- Mushrooms
- Tomatoes (apparently cooked tomatoes are more nutritious than raw ones, who knew?!)
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Grapes
- Orange Juice
- Apple Juice
- Cranberry Juice
- Dried fruit in the 'Fruit and Fibre' cereal (I had to squeeze that one in for good measure!)
So there you have it, an excuse to eat all the ice-cream you desire for lunch as our breakfasts contain enough nutrients to set you off for the day! *raises brew* CHEERS!
